
Susan Pease Gadoua is a private practice therapist in San Rafael with over 25 years of experience. In 2000, she founded the Changing Marriage Institute, an agency specializing in meeting the needs of couples whose marriages are in strife, as well as those who are separating and divorcing. Susan has been trained as both a Mediator and Collaborative Divorce Coach.
With an extensive background in dealing with inter-personal relationships and divorce, Susan’s practice consists primarily of individuals and couples, as well as the many groups she leads for divorce and relationship insight. Susan’s therapeutic orientations include Brainspotting (a trauma treatment based on EMDR), Family Systems Therapy, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Voice Dialogue.
Susan is the author of several books: San Francisco Chronical bestseller, Contemplating Divorce (2008), Stronger Day by Day (2010), co-author of The New I Do (2014) and author of The Parenting Marriage Workbook (2017). Additionally, Susan is a column writer for PsychologyToday.com and she has been a featured writer for the Huffington Post Divorce Page.
She also developed an alternative to divorce for couples with kids called a Parenting Marriage.
